About Jason

Jason has always been very practical. At the early age of 12 he was introduced to the woodturning lathe. The interest of taking a piece of timber, mounting it on the lathe, creating a shape, revealing the natural colours, grain and texture of a wide range of timbers have captivated him for more than 30 years. At 14 he attended a week long course at Parnham House in Dorset -  he was hooked.

On leaving school he attended Bucks College in High Wycombe, and by the age of 21 had completed a BA degree in fine furniture, he still makes small items of furniture but his real interest and passion is using the lathe.

Jasons production work includes a range of items from wooden fruit and ball clocks, functional fruit bowls and lamps, more intricate decorative artistic bowls and hollow forms. He is best known for his unique style of turned boxes and Solitaire sets that have a collection of balls each made from a different species of timber.

Jason regularly undertakes commissions that ranges from stair spindles and architectural items, restoration items for antique restorers, and unique one-off items produced to the clients’ requirements.
